Shield is a powerful UV-C light array that provides maximum airborne threat reduction, destroying up to 99.9% of virus, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
This robust, custom-engineered solution can provide 24-7-365 air & coil disinfection without disruption to business or social events and prevents spore gestation at the coil in seconds.
An effective solution for entire facilities, SHIELD is engineered to serve Commercial & Industrial Buildings, Hospitals, Healthcare Facilities, Educational Institutions, Event Venues, Municipal Buildings and more.
Custom engineered applications for placement in the HVAC plenum at the coil neutralize pathogens effectively, passing disinfected air back through the supply vents throughout an entire facility. Patent Pending.
Non-disruptive to existing HVAC, modular solutions are easily integrated into your facilities current HVAC. Installations average 30-minutes per unit and require a 110v outlet.
Placed in the plenum at the coil, units are easily accessed for any maintnenace. Addditionally, units can be easily moved for HVAC maintnenace.
Light life of our UV-C LEDs average 48-months when in use during typical business hours.
Sensor technology measures system on/off conditions as well as light on/off conditions and can measure certain conditions in the building airstream. Information can be viewed and downloaded from the Cloud.
Units are placed in the plenum and not visible. All access doors are outfitted with a kill switch so that lights shut down when the plenum is accessed.
3D modeling incorporating UV irradiation, UV dose, air velocity, reflectivity, volume of space, filters, and time in residence are analyzed to create an effective application for pathogen mitigation.
Utilizing light simulation software to simulate light conditions in our custom-engineered applications, we calculate power over a given area (mW/cm2) also known as irradiance. Using this simulated value, we calculate UV-C dosage (mJ/cm2), which is the overall energy required to inactivate pathogens given the conditions that exist within the light array chamber as well as the conditions within the duct, including air velocity.
Maximum CFM output of each HVAC unit is utilized in our calculation. When we evaluate mJ/cm2 we are looking at the irradiance of the emitted light from the UV-C LED to calculate the needed UV-C dose to inactivate a specific pathogen.
Recent industry studies of the coronavirus suggest that the inactivation energy is between 1mJ-5mJ of energy to achieve 99.9% reduction. Utilizing these recent studies and our light simulation software, we create and evaluate complex systems and scenarios, which we utilize to strategically design our light array solutions to provide maximum protection and create a minimal risk environment.
Our technology was tested at Intertek. An aerosolized pathogen, Phi X174, (SARS-CoV-2 surrogate) was released in a standard 1,000 cubic foot testing chamber. The technology was found to achieve a 99.9% reduction for the challenge virus. A dramatic reduction of 97.2% was evident within the first 5 minutes of use.
With HVAC applications, the base model of Shield® can eliminate 99.9% of pathogens at/on the coils in less than <2 seconds (simulation based on Sars-Cov-2 pathogen). To prevent spore gestation or mold growing on HVAC coils , there is a daily dose of 25mJ required. We can achieve the target value of 25mJ in the first 30 seconds of use.
SHIELD not only offers airborne threat reduction, but also aides in reducing carbon footprint, helps to reduce HVAC maintnenace costs and can prolong the life of HVAC.
Ultraviolet light has been used for disinfection and sterilization for decades. Pathogens require specific dosages for deactiviation.
Testing was performed in a controlled environment. We understand real-world situations vary greatly.
Using the data from our independent testing as baseline information, our Optical Engineers apply scientific formulas based on the most recent UV research and the unique factors of each indoor environment to assess the needs of each facility.
3D modeling incorporating UV irradiation, UV dose, air velocity, reflectivity, volume of space, and time in residence are analyzed to create an effective application for pathogen mitigation, creating a minimal risk environment for any indoor environment.
The modular nature of our solution allows for custom designed applications.
All solutions offer compounding, continuous air disinfection in real-time and prevent spore gestation at the coil.
